UGA Men's Tennis Champions Club

April 2010

Dear Tennis Lettermen and Friends,

Just back from a successful trip to LSU, I take this moment to thank you all for your continued support of our program. We still have 5 important dual matches to play - all of them against conference foes.

Then, in 4 weeks, we go to Kentucky for the SEC Tournament. After a couple of weeks off, we then have the 1st/2nd rounds of NCAA before we, I hope, play in the NCAA Championships here at home in Athens, GA on May 20-31.

As you probably know, we went 1-1 over the weekend, dropping a tough 4-2 match to No. 3 Ohio State at home on Thursday to close out a six- match homestand, before earning a 5-2 victory over No. 41 LSU on Sunday in Baton Rouge. Senior Christian VitulliThis win kept our seventh-ranked Bulldogs (14-4) perfect at 6-0 in SEC action on the year. Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee are the three unbeatens in the conference. We have now won 51 of our last 53 conference matches.

Some notes:

  • Senior Christian Vitulli won his 10th straight match against the LSU Tigers.
  • With the score knotted at 2-2 on Sunday, Georgia closed the match with three straight wins at Nos. 3, 4 and 2 singles to seal the win.
  • Juniors Javier Garrapiz and Drake Bernstein remain tied for the team lead with 25 wins.
  • We return home to host Mississippi State on Friday at 5 p.m. and Ole Miss on Sunday at 1 p.m. to close the regular-season home schedule.

At your service this spring, for everything UGA Men's Tennis, we have our Champions Club website at It's arguably the quickest and easiest way to all the information we provide.

From left-hand column on the front page we have direct links to:

  1. The latest news and match info on
  2. The schedule and results on
  3. SEC standings
  4. NCAA rankings

Some of that info you normally have to dig for - on they are all only ONE click away!

Our front page also features the live Twitter feed from our matches - so you'll always know what the score is. I'll leave you to explore the rest of the site on your own. But it features player info, player tweets, contact forms, etc. Later this spring I hope to add the list of Champions Club members.

Again thank you for your support. The team, the staff and I look forward to seeing you back soon.

Best regards & Go Dawgs!
